Product Description
Type Full size fountain pen with a very flexible nib
Product Name The barrel is marked "Capitol Educator" though the Educator usually had a different filling system, and this appears to be exactly the same as the Capitol Cabinet pen, of the same "Mercantile" pen line.
Manufacturer and Year Aiken Lambert, New York - circa late 1910s-20s
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Lever filler. We've replaced the bladder and it works very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with nickel plated hardware.
Nib FLEXIBLE EXTRA FINE 14k marked merely "14k A.L. Co." With nice tippng, this nib has a little less than what we would call full flexibility. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. There are a few small scratches or marks on the upper cap, and the chasing is a bit worn. The imprint is quite worn, and a bit difficult to read, but still visible. It says: "Capitol Educator" Aikin Lambert Co. New York Made in U.S.A. The lower barrel is slightly discolored, but even that is less discolored than we would expect from a pen of this age. It's quite a beautiful piece, restored and working well, with a desirable nib.
