Product Description
Type | Beautiful vintage mechanical pencil working very well |
Product Name | Unknown |
Manufacturer and Year | Butler & Co. of London. We believe this piece is from the late 1800s. |
Length | Extended 4-1/8", retracted 3-1/4" |
Filling System | Takes 0.9mm lead, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism (you twist the cone). However, you have to slide the writing end out in order to access the cone. |
Color | Beautiful gold finish with a green jewel embedded in the top piece. The finish is not marked, but we believe it is 14k gold, due to the way the petina looks, and the lack of any plating wear or brassing, even on the intricate parts of the design where you would expect it. |
Condition |
Excellent condition with some beautiful petina. There's a small scratch in the jewel, and the imprint is a bit worn (see photos), but there's hardly any other damage. This is a really beautiful piece, the finish is ornate, but tasteful, not at all overdone. |
