Product Description
Type Vintage eyedropper fountain pen with a flexible nib.
Product Name Commercial Pen
Manufacturer and Year Sanford & Bennet, USA -- 1910s, most of the ads we found were dated around 1917.
Length 5-7/16".
Filling System Eyedropper filler. We cleaned and tested it and it's working very well. We will send instructions and recommendations for usage as well as some silicone grease and an eyedropper.
Color Red hard rubber with two ornate barrel bands. The bands are gold filled and 1/4" wide each.
Nib MEDIUM FLEXIBLE 14k nib is smooth with nice tipping material remaining. It has strong line variation. See writing sample below. The nib is marked, "PEN-CIL-PEN N.Y."
Condition Excellent condition. The imprint is just about perfect, though the "S" in "Sanford" is covered by a barrel band. We're not sure if the barrel bands were a later addition, this brand is very poorly documented. There is very low handwear and few microscratches. The bands are a bit worn on the edges and the one closer to the end of the pen has some cracks in addition to the two seams. They have been photographed. The band doesn't have any indication that it will fall off. There is a perfectly lined discolored band at the top of the barrel just beneath the section.
