Product Description
Type Full size vintage fountain pen in excellent working condition.
Product Name Sheaffer Self Filling #4 - early "Flat Top"
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA - this early imprint dates the pen from between 1913 and 1918.
Length 5-3/8 inches.
Filling System Lever filler - working perfectly with a new sac and guaranteed for one year.
Color Black chased hard rubber with nickel plated trim.
Nib Gold Self Filling #4 nib is in excellent condition with some remaining tipping material. Very good flex, just short of full flex.
Condition Excellent condition despite considerable lightening of the hard rubber. The imprint is worn but readable, and the chasing is worn almost smooth.
It has been restored with a new sac and the filling system is working well. (We'll guarantee it for a year.)
There's a notation on the cap barrel -- "24 T23" This is one of the Sheaffer company tracking identifiers, we're really not sure how it was used, however the pen was obtained from someone who may have had access to the Sheaffer archives. (We usually see these numbers on 1950s-60s pens.)
