Product Description
Type Substantial, full size vintage fountain pen in excellent working condition
Product Name Sheaffer "Flat Top" (The nib indicates that the pen was a Lifetime model.)
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA - late 1920s
Length 5-5/16"
Filling System Lever filler, restored with a new sac and working perfectly.
Color Black chased hard rubber with gold plated trim and a white dot on the top of the cap. Lined pattern. (We usually see this pen in black radite/celluloid, and the hard rubber version is less common.)
Nib EXTRA FINE Gold Lifetime nib is large and marked with a serial number. In great condition, with nice tiping. It's firm, and fairly smooth.
Condition Very nice condition. There's a small crack in the lip of the cap which stops at the cap band, so we do not recomend posting this pen. The black hard rubber has oxidized and become a slightly more greenish brown than it was originally, and there are a few small acratches in the barrel, cap, and lever (see photos) of the pen. There's some medium sized spots of brassing on the cap band, as well as a little brassing on the ends of the clip (see photos). The imprint on the barrel has mostly been worn away. The pen appears quite smooth and fairly shiny. It's fully restored and working well, with no personalization.
