Product Description
Type Fountain pen, limited edition 22 of 24.
Product Name Dome of the Rock (Islamic shrine located on The Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem)
Manufacturer and Year Bexley, USA -- 2000s ??? (We're not exactly sure, but we've seen other handpainted pens from Bexley that were made sometime in the last 20 years).
Length 5-5/16" and substantial
Filling System Standard international cartridges, or you can use bottled ink with the converter that's installed.
Color The cap, end finial, and section are black. The barrel is a hand painted (and signed by the artist) rendering of the Dome of the Rock. The dome glows gold and the scene includes the wall and visitors. Sterling Silver (w/hallmark) clip.
Nib BROAD 18k nib. It's two tone.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a large pen with an especially beautiful barrel with all hand painting intact. The cap has moderate wear and fine bumpiness on a large portion of the surface, which suggests it might be urushi. The clip also has moderate scratching with some dots of pitting. The barrel end piece has some microscratching. The signature, LE number, and hallmark are all clear.
We're not entirely sure of this pen's history. Details on Bexley pens are sometimes difficult to track down. We have seen other handpainted Bexley pens, made for Allan Gross of Pens Plus, but the ones we've seen all have the shop name engraved on the cap, and this one does not.
