Product Description
Type fountain pen
Product Name 400 (note that this is NOT M400 - there's a really great write-up on the differences in this Pelikan's Perch post)
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan, Germany -- c. 1950-54.
Length 4-15/16"
Filling System Piston filling system
Color Dark brown cap, tortoise striped barrel. Gold trim.
Nib FINE 14C 585 nib. It is firm and smooth. The nib was likely replaced at some point, because the piston knob is stamped OF for "oblique fine", whereas the nib is imprinted only with F.
Condition Excellent condition. There is some fading on the piston knob, where there's a white cast on the surface. The barrel has great transparency, though it also reveals some ink staining inside. The cap is personalized with "NERAG". The trim is in good shape, mostly clean with just some brassing on the edge of the clip ring at the top of the cap, and on the cap band edges. The crown has some dings around the edges, and the cap "jewel" also has dents and scrapes around the perimeter. The filling system works very nicely. The end of the barrel, near the piston knob, is imprinted with "Gunther Wagner Pelikan" and is only worn a bit in the Wagner portion.
