Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen and mechanical pencil in original box.
Product Name Parker "51" Aerometric.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in Canada – 1949 (both pieces have a ".9." date code).
Length Fountain pen is 5-7/16" long, mechanical pencil is 5-3/16".
Filling System The pen is an Aerometric squeeze filler, which we've cleaned and tested. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads, which it extends via the cap-actuated, repeater mechanism (you click the cap portion down to extend the lead, just like modern mechanical pencils only it's gravity fed).
Color Burgundy barrels with 1/10 12k gold filled caps, with the converging lines pattern. Pearlescent cap jewels.
Nib FINE 14k nib is firm and smooth with nice tipping material.
Condition Excellent condition, in original box. The fountain pen has light handwear and scratching. The clip has plating wear along the sides, and brassing on the high points of the top. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or personalization. The aerometric filling system looks great, with very little of the flaking that we often see in the metal coating. The pencil looks good. There is some scratching at the top of the barrel, where the cap portion has scraped its way up and down. There is moderate scratching on the barrel. The clip has plating wear along the sides. Both pieces are working very well, and look lovely in their original box.
