Product Description
Type Vintage collectible fountain pen in excellent working condition
Product Name Parker 51 Double Jewel
Manufacturer and Year Parker, USA, 1946 (the imprint on the barrel is worn but we believe that we can make out part of a 6)
Length 5-1/2"
Filling System Vacumatic filling system. The system is in excellent condition, just restored here at Peyton Street Pens.
Color Cordovan Brown body, sterling silver cap with a pattern of close lines. Gold clip and blue diamond. The end jewels are a light pearlescent color.
Nib Stub 14k nib is very smooth and has good ink flow. We think this started off as a factory stub, but had some crispness added via nib work which gives it better and sharper line variation. We've got a writing sample below to show off the width difference between horizontal and vertical strokes.
Condition Excellent condition. Light signs of usage, including microscratching and scattered marks. There is a toothmark on the blind cap, near where it contacts the barrel. There is some color variation in the section, where the color of the resin has aged differently. There's a ring around the end of the barrel near the blind cap caused by cap posting. No cracks or personalization. The cap is one of the nicest sterling caps we've seen with no dents or dings, though the cap lip has tarnish marks, which you can see in the photos, where the coating has worn off and the underlying sterling has tarnished. Light brassing and plating wear on the clip. The blue diamond looks great, with good paint. The cap jewel has some impressions in the surface, but the blind cap looks great. Cap imprint is clear, but the barrel imprint is largely worn - much of the top half of "Made in USA" is smoothed out, as is the left 2/3 of the year imprint.
