Product Description
Type Button Fill Fountain Pen
Product Name Parker Challenger ... this is the full size model.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, Canada -- 1930s (We can't find a date code on the barrel, but there is a "4" on the nib. The Challenger was produced from 1934 - 1941, but this pen has a clip that was introduced in '37, and nibs are often swapped out.)
Length 5-1/8"
Filling System Button Filler, restored with a new sac. Works Well.
Color Black, with black blind cap and section. The color is interesting - the barrel and cap are closer to a deep olive green in daylight, but the section and blind cap are still a deep rich black. There is a tiny bit of evidence of fading underneath where the cap fits, but for the most part the cap and barrel match quite well and are a distinct color from the section and blind cap.
Nib MEDIUM-FINE "Parker Fountain Pen" fine gold nib (date code 4). Smooth and semi-flexible. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks, chips, dents, or dings. There is a tiny bit of fading on the barrel underneath the cap, but for the most part the color is fairly even. The section and blind cap are deep, rich black. The barrel has light wear. The cap ring has brassing. The clip ring has some plating wear. The clip has plating wear along the sides, and some brassing on the open end. The imprint is very clear.
