Product Description
Type High end modern fountain pen, ballpoint, and mechanical pencil set.
Product Name Sonnet Mark 1.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, France, 1990s. (The fountain pen has an IIP date mark, corresponding to 1997, while the ballpoint and mechanical pencil are both marked IIT, and are from 1995).
Length All three pieces are 5-1/4" long.
Filling System Fountain pen takes Parker style cartridges and converters. A Parker converter is installed. Ballpoint pen takes Parker style refills, and a black one is currently installed. The pencil takes 0.5mm leads, which extend by twisting the top half of the pencil.
Color Sterling silver grid pattern finish is one of Parker's well known patterns, called Cicelé. The trim is gold plated. (There's also a silverplate version of this pen that looks almost exactly the same, however it does not have hallmarks. All three pieces have the 925 hallmark on the cap.)
Nib MEDIUM 18k nib is springy and smooth. When we received the pen, the nib was bent. We have adjusted it, and it's working well and writing smoothly.
Condition Excellent condition for this upscale, refined set. The fountain pen looks fantastic with no dents or dings. There are some dots of plating wear near the top of the cap. There are also small marks of tarnish on the surface of the end of the barrel, and tiny chips in the jewel there as well. The ballpoint pen looks great, with just a bit of tarnish along the side of the clip. The pencil looks fantastic, with hardly any signs of usage. The top black jewels on all pieces are perfect. The imprints and hallmarks are clear. The box is in great shape as well.
