Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Vacumatic Junior Debutante, based off of the year and size it could be a Junior Debutante or a Sub Deb but since it has the ornamental cap band, we are going with its earlier name.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, USA -- 1939 (The date code is a clear 9 with three dots). 1939 is a transitional year for this model.
Length 4-5/8" Debutante size
Filling System Vacumatic filling system, restored here at Peyton Street Pens. This is the aluminum speedline plunger version.
Color Laminated Black body and cap with gold plated trim. It has alternating black bands and semi-transparent amber bands. Cap band with an ornamental cap band. It's a more elaborate version of the more common chevron pattern. It has a black cap jewel.
Nib FINE 14k. It has good tipping. The silver colored masking looks great in hand with a nice solid boundary between the majority of the nib and the arrow in the middle.
Condition Excellent + condition. The barrel transparency is fantastic and the barrel imprint is crisp. The cap band is a bit worn and the cap has a few bite marks. The blind cap doesn't have the bite marks but does have a few long microscratches. The blind cap looks like an almost perfect fit to the barrel. The trim on the blind cap is partially brassed, and there's a nick in the top tassie. It's fully restored and working well.
