Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker Vacumatic "Long Major", it is the same width as a Major but is longer.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1944 (the date code is a clear .4. The 4 is unusually large.).
Length 5-1/2", about 1/4" longer than a Vacumatic Major.
Filling System Vacumatic plunger filling system has been restored here at Peyton Street Pens and is working well. This has a plastic plunger system.
Color Laminated Silver Pearl body with alternating bands of translucent amber and a solid brown gradient. The color is inconsistent between the cap and barrel which makes it difficult to place the actual color, but we're pretty sure it is Silver Pearl due to the nickel trim 1/8" cap band with a chevron patterned cap band. The trim is nickel plated. The pen has a blue diamond clip.
Nib Flexible fine nib. Sorry, we don't have a writing sample.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dings, or dents. The pen is shiny and feels good in the hand, but the coloration is dark. The barrel has good transparency. The barrel has horizontal capping lines and moderate scratching. The end of the barrel that reveals the plunger has bite marks and heavier scratching. The cap also has moderate scratching. The clip has plating wear on the end piece and the blue in the diamond is gone. The cap jewel has a small scratch on the very top. The cap band has some plating wear but the pattern is visible. The imprint starts out faded but clears up allowing the date coding to be seen.
