Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker Vacumatic Major
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1947 (the date code on the barrel is a clear 7 with three dots. The nib code is a 3 with two dots, so it dates a few years earlier than the rest of the pen.)
Length 5-1/16.
Filling System Vacumatic plunger filling system has been restored here at Peyton Street Pens and is working well. This has the late plastic plunger system.
Color Laminated Black body and cap with gold plated trim. It has alternating black bands and semi-transparent amber bands. The cap has a black cap jewel and a chevron patterned cap band just over 1/8". It has a split arrow clip and a blue diamond.
Nib FINE 14k nib marked with a 3 and two dots.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a classically designed pen in a dark black color with outstanding barrel transparency. The cap and barrel have moderate wear throughout. There are a few bite marks at the end of the barrel on the blind cap. The cap band has scratches but the gold plating is intact. The clip looks nice. There is a bit of plating wear and pitting on the clip band tassie. The black jewel is lovely as is the blue diamond. The imprints are clear.
