Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen in excellent working condition
Product Name Sheaffer Balance 500. Circa 1938, pens got model names and this one would be "Admiral." It would have cost $5.00, and it does have the 500 imprint.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA -- 1941-42, these are the official years the military clip was used but it could be from a bit later.
Length 5-3/16"
Filling System Lever filling system which we have fully restored with a new sac. It's working perfectly.
Color Black with gold trim and the military style clip. There is a see-through amber viewing window on the feed.
Nib Flexible 14k Two-tone Feather Touch #5 nib. See writing sample, below. Rather uncommon.
Condition Excellent condition for this shiny, vintage pen. There are no cracks, dings, dents, or chips. The barrel has horizontal capping lines and some light to moderate wear near the end. The cap has light scratching, especially around the back of the clip. The trim looks lovely on this pen (lever, clip, and cap band). The amber viewing window is quite scratched up in certain areas but you can still easily see through it. The imprints are crystal clear.
