Product Description
Type Vintage eyedropper fountain pen with a flexible nib.
Product Name The Boss is written on the barrel, it could theoretically be just a personalization or advertisement, and not a model name.
Manufacturer and Year Unknown, likely 1910s. We could find nothing on this model/maker.
Length 6-1/8" capped and 7" posted. It is a long and slender pen.
Filling System Eyedropper filler. We cleaned and tested it and it's working very well. We will send instructions and recommendations for usage as well as some silicone grease and an eyedropper.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with two barrel bands. The barrel has a wavy pattern etched in it and the two 1/8" bands are ornately patterned.
Nib MEDIUM SEMI-FLEXIBLE #4 14k nib is smooth with nice tipping material remaining. The tipping has an almost architect shape to it so it takes practice to get more obvious line variation. See writing sample below. The tines have some small nicks that don't affect writing.
Condition Excellent condition. The pen has some handwear and the cap has a wide stripe that is darker than the rest of the pen. There is a slight excess of material near the top of the cap and some marks on the posting part of the barrel. The chasing is strong. The trim has tarnish in its detailing and some other wear including plaitng wear on the edges. No cracks or chips. The barrel imprint is clear.
