Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen abd mechanical pencil set.
Product Name Skywriter (it's marked on the fountain pen barrel).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman ALCO, Canada – circa 1930s to mid 1940s. This is one of the Waterman Aiken Lambert models from Canada.
Length Fountain pen: 5-1/4"; mechanical pencil: 4-7/8"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well. The mechanical pencil takes 0.9mm leads.
Color Black bodies with silver-color plated trim, thin single gold plated cap bands. We're not sure if the bands were gold plated, or whether they were originally silver colored and the plating wore off so that what you are seeing is brass. Considering the minimal usage these have seen, it's unlikely that all the plating on the bands has managed to wear off, but it is unusual to see a silver colored clip and lever, and a gold plated band.
Nib MEDIUM flexible nib marked 14kt R Canada. See writing sample.
Condition Excellent condition, in box (not original), with original stickers on pen and pencil. This is a beautiful, shiny, set that has had minimal useage. The fountain pen barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and light to moderate scratching especially toward the end of the barrel. The lever looks excellent. The cap has scratches above and below the cap band and alongside the clip. The cap band has light plating wear; it still has a lot of the gold plating (?) left. The clip has little dots of plating wear throughout. The end of the barrel has an original sticker (M, $1.50). The mechanical pencil has only light scratching. The cap ring has some light plating wear. The clip is lovely. The cap portion has an original price sticker (.75). When the cap is removed, there is a hard eraser still intact. The set comes in a little red paper box that has some age wear with a couple of taped edges. The imprints on the pen are clear.
