Lovely and rare Waterman's Ideal 542 1/2 V safety pen in solid 14k gold. Fine retractable gold nib with flex. Superior condition, un-restored but tested and working well.

Type  Safety pen in solid gold, very hard to find.

Product Name  Stamped "Watermans" (cap lip) and "542 1/2 V" (barrel end). These small Waterman safeties are often called "Baby" pens.

Manufacturer and Year  Waterman USA - 1920s

Length  3-1/2" capped, 4-3/4" posted

Filling System  Safety filler (We thoroughly tested the pen, and we did not find any leaks. The pen was not restored by us, and we do not guarantee the filling system.

Color  Solid engraved 14k gold; black hard rubber underneath. Double cap.

Nib  Waterman's Ideal flexible nib in medium. Line variation from medium  to broad - see writing sample below.

Condition  Superior condition with only slight, even wear on the gold and no dings or dents. This pen has a double cap, and the outside cap is engraved while the inner cap is lined. There are some scratches on the lined inner cap. No cracks or chips in the BHR.  Ornate engraving in the personalization space (possibly a "M"). The gold nib, stamped "Waterman's Ideal" is in very good condition and extends and retracts as it should.

Domestic US Shipping Policy: For the most part, shipping to US addresses is free and is made via first class mail.

International Shipping PolicyInternational shipping is based on weight, and we give you a choice (depending on country) of first class, first class registered, priority mail or express delivery (only Express Mail provides true tracking). Internatonal shipments valued at over $40 come with free insurance, unless that service is not available for your specific country. Most of our customers opt for the very reasonably priced first class mail method, which can take anywhere from one to four weeks. We are happy to discuss alternatives to the options currently offered during the checkout process, so please contact us if you'd like a quote.

Most countries charge customs fees on shipments from the United States, but this is not something we can estimate and there is no way to pay these fees in advance.
