Product Description
Type Lever filling fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Unknown. The only markings on the pen are on its nib, which reads "Inox Iristyl 96."
Manufacturer and Year Not marked, but probably made in the 1930s based on styling and material. We're guessing German, based on the clip style, but that's a bit of a stretch. We're pretty sure the nib isn't original, as these Inox Iristyl nibs seem to show up on a variety of vintage and more modern pens, probably because they are smooth and have some nice flex.
Length 4-11/16 inches.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black hard rubber cap and barrel with gold plated trim and a steel or nickel lever. The black hard rubber is only very subtly discolored.
Nib FINE gold plated "Inox Iristyl" gold plated steel nib is smooth with nice tipping. It's not quite what we would call full flex, but certainly more than semi-flex, with easy line variation from fine to a nice broad under very little pressure. See our writing sample below. The gold plating is a bit worn (see photos), but this has no affect on its writing.
Condition Excellent condition except for a couple of tiny flaws in the cap band, and the aforementioned discoloration. No cracks or chips in the hard rubber, no dings, dents, or personalization, and the trim doesn't show any plating wear. As mentioned, the nib shows a bit of plating wear. Fully restored and working well.
