Product Description
Type Vintage ring top fountain pen set by Wahl Pen
Product Name Wahl #2 - the nib is marked "Wahl #2." This is part of the Art Deco line.
Manufacturer and Year Wahl, USA -- Early 1920s
Length The fountain pen measures 3-5/8" and the pencil measures 3-15/16"
Filling System The fountain pen is a lever filer. A new sac has been installed and it is working well. The pencil takes "thick" or 1.1mm leads. The leads extend via a twist mechanism but in this era of Wahl pencil they don't retract, so you have to push them in.
Color Gold filled in "zig zag" or parallel lines interrupted with little darts to give an overall ripple pattern. The gold is an overlay over black hard rubber for the fountain pen.
Nib FINE FLEXIBLE 14k Wahl #2 nib with great line variation. The tines spread with minimal pressure. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Superior condition. There are a few spots of light tarnish but no major wear. As with all metal pens, there are many polishing marks. The pencil mechanism doesn't work fully but the patterning and imprints are clear on both pieces. The rings move easily. There are some tiny nicks on the end of the barrel. Both have been personalized, "GES," in a flowing script.
