Product Description
Type Multipen
Product Name Writer's Choice
Manufacturer and Year Dunhill, Germany -- 1970s. Probably made by Montblanc, as they made a lot of Dunhill's 1970s writing instruments, and this pen bears a striking resemblance to the Montblanc 1970s multipen.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System The ballpoint portions take small metal international refills. The formal refill size is usually called D1 but we have installed a mix of brands including the Lamy M21 multipen refill and a rOtring refill. The blue, green, and red refills all write. The pencil tip takes "thick" or 1.1mm leads that extend via a twist mechanism. To extend the lead, you need to pull the whole "refill" out and then twist the front of the pencil. The overall pen mechanism works by choosing which color you want, rotating the pen so that its label is facing up and then pushing down on the cap. Note that the refills are replaced by pulling them out through the cone.
Color Sterling silver with lengthwise alternating stripes. The first stripe is smooth sterling and the other stripe is a barleycorn pattern. The general design is very similar to other Dunhill rollerball pens in this era.
Condition Superior condition. The pen is new but it does have some wear including the colored labels being worn at the top of the pen and the sterling imprint being a bit worn. No scratches or dents. There is still a little tarnish on the pen that we did not successfully polish off. The mechanism works well. The pen ships in box with small pamphlet describing the model.
