Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Sheaffer Balance 275, also known as the Sheaffer Balance Junior (both the clip and the nib are marked 'junior'). The 275 is on the barrel.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA -- late 1930s - early 1940s. This pre-radius clip was introduced in Lifetime models in 1934, but this color was launched in 1939 and Sheaffer continued to use the clips in non-Lifetime pens for several more years.
Length 4-3/4"
Filling System Lever filler - working perfectly with a new sac.
Color Carmine red striated with nickel or chrome plated trim.
Nib EXTRA FINE 14k "Junior" nib. The Junior nib is one of the few Sheaffer flexible nibs from this era, and the flex varies from nib to nib. This particular one is more springy than flexible, and you won't really achieve any line variation.
Condition Excellent + condition. There is some brassing on the cap band though it's much better looking than we usually see. The clip looks great. There is handwear and light scratching on the barrel and cap. Section is nice and smooth. The viewing window is clear. The imprint is very crisp. Fully restored.
