Product Description
Type Limited Edition Fountain Pen.
Product Name Stipula Iris LE #589/926
Manufacturer and Year Stipula, Italy -- 2000.
Length 6"
Filling System This is a piston or captive converter filler. After the cap has been used to extend the nib, remove the cap and twist the knob to fill the barrel.
Color "Hazelnut" celluloid that was cured over 6 years. It looks a lot like vintage pearl and black celluloid after it has ambered. The trim is 24k gold plated and includes a wise band towards the end of the barrel. The cap has a piece of the celluloid in it and the clip rotates around the barrel to adjust your grip.
Nib 1.1mm 18k nib. This is a factory cursive italic nib that writes with strong line variation and nice springyness. Stipula gold nibs are quite soft. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent + condition. The filling system was refurbished by Stipula in late 2017. The pen has handwear and polishing marks, with some fine scratches on the clip. The imprints are easily read and the mechanisms work well. Ships in the original Iris box.
In order to use this pen, a few steps need to be taken. They're outlined in the paperwork, but we will explain it here as well. Unthread the cap and then post it on the barrel. When pushed down all the way, it acts as a key that locks into a hidden mechanism. The cap can then be turned clockwise to extend the nib or counterclockwise to retract it. If you want to fill the pen, extend the nib and then remove the cap. The knob at the end of the barrel can then be turned to move the piston seal within the pen.
