Product Description
Type Ornate sterling dip pen holder/handle with flexible Leroy Fairchild nib
Product Name Marked 114 on the sterling.
Manufacturer and Year Edward Todd & Co. (The Todd imprint is partially seen in the photo below.)
Length 6-3/8" (holder only, not counting nib)
Filling System None, this is a dip pen so you dip the nib in ink. There's no ink reservoir and no feed, so you need to use the right ink and re-dip a lot. You can't use regular fountain pen ink. (Our writing sample was done using Winsor & Newton drawing ink.)
Color Sterling silver, with a lovely fiddlehead fern pattern on it.
Nib EXTRA FINE nib is marked Leroy Fairchild & Co. No tipping material, and it's a little scratchy. There's a bit of a bend in one tine of the nib, which we endeavored to straighten, and the tines flex uniformly. You are probably going to have to use something close to India ink .... we couldn't get more than a few strokes with fountain pen ink without having to re-dip, and we used Winsor & Newton drawing ink to get the writing sample below.
Condition Gorgeous! No dents or dings or personalization.
