Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name Skywriter Generation 1. This is the one with the Aikin Lambert nib and Waterman and Aikin Lambert barrel imprint. Waterman bought Aikin Lambert in the early 1930s. A nice comparison of the first three versions of the Skywriter can be found here.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman & Aikin Lambert, USA -- late 1930s to early 1940s.
Length 4-5/16"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Gray striped barrel and cap with a semi-transparent section. It has nickel plated trim and a thin cap band.
Nib FLEXIBLE MEDIUM nib marked 14kt A.L.Co USA. It is a smooth writer and flexes easily.
Condition Excellent condition. The transparency is really good in the section and the lever and clip don't have too much plating wear. Nickel plating wears easily so it's no surprise that the cap band is heavily brassed. There is a funny scuff/scrape mark on the end of the barrel and some light scratching throughout. It's most noticeable with marks at the end of the barrel probably from attempted posting. The cap does not post well. The imprint is very clear. No chips, cracks, dings, dents, or personalization. It's fully restored and working well.
