Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Aurora Hastil, original edition as described in this review.
Manufacturer and Year Aurora, Italy -- 1970s, this model was designed in 1969 and was recently brought back into production. Designed by Maco Zanusa, you'll find it in the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.
Length 5-7/16"
Filling System Takes Aurora cartridges or Aurora trik-trak converters. The box includes two cartridges and one converter. The converter seems a bit sticky and doesn't hold much ink. The cartridges are mostly dried out. While they are said to fit international cartridges and converters, the barrel is too slim for most to be used. The trik-trak converter is still in production. Parker slide converters may also be a possibility.
Color Brushed stainless steel with embedded black end pieces and small plastic pieces towards the end of the barrel. It has a striped black section for comfortable holding.
Nib Medium rhodium masked 14k nib. It looks very much like a broad nib, but the box has a clear M on it and comparison photos show that these nibs run broad. It is a smooth and firm nib.
Condition Near mint condition with original packaging. The pen has some marks on the barrel but no scratches, dents, cracks, pitting, or other signs of plating wear. The finish looks great. The aluminum tube works well including the sliding section to reveal the cartridges and converter. The paperwork and sleeve are also included.
