Product Description
Type Lever-filling fountain pen
Product Name Model name unknown
Manufacturer and Year Paul E. Wirt, USA, 1900-15. (The nib is marked Wirt, though the rest of the pen could be a generic BCHR lever filler. We usually see Wirt pens as eyedroppers, but they did make lever fillers. See this reference for more info on Wirt lever fillers. They had very thin levers like ours, so we think it is probably all Wirt, and it does resember one of the pens depicted.)
Length 4-1/4"
Filling System Lever filler. We have replaced the sac and is ready for use. We cleaned and tested it and it's working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with a carved line near the cap lip as a design element. The hard rubber has a wavy chased pattern. Silver colored trim. Accomodation clip.
Nib Medium-fine flexible nib, marked simply "Wirt No. 2". It flexes with little or no pressure. The tipping material is very good. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks. There is discoloration on the pen, with a distinct line where the pen was capped. The chasing pattern is smoothed down quite a bit, but is still visible. The surface of the accomodation clip is pretty rough looking, with some pitting on the surface. The lever has brassing and surface roughness.
