Type Collectible Snorkel Filling System Fountain Pen and Mechanical Pencil Set
Product Name PFM II
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA -- 1960
Length Fountain Pen: 5-3/8"; Mechanical Pencil: 5-1/8"
Filling System The PFM II uses a snorkel filling system. The filling system has been restored with a new sac, point gasket and o-ring. The snorkel works in combination with the Touchdown filling system. Unscrew the knob to extend the snorkel, pull out the piston, immerse the tip of the snorkel in ink, and push the piston down. Wait 10 seconds to allow the bladder to expand and pull the ink in. Then screw the knob to retract the snorkel. No need to wipe ink off of anything. The filling system works well with excellent suction. The mechanical pencil takes 0.9mm leads. A packet of leads will be included.
Color Green with Steel Caps. White dots on top of clips. The fountain pen has the original chalk mark on the barrel.
Nib FINE PdAg long diamond nib
Condition Excellent condition. This is a nice, shiny pen and pencil set, in executive styling, and in a good color. The fountain pen has marks on the section and barrel caused by the cap lip. Otherwise, the barrel has only light scratching. It still has the original chalk mark on it that is visible, "PFM II/Fine/1". The cap looks shiny; it has light microscratching. The clip has some small scratches on the surface. There is a bit of plating wear around the white dot. The dot looks good. The mechanical pencil shows more wear than the pen and it has a long, thin crack going up from the cone (it still works). The green body has moderate scratching. The cap has some shiny marks as well as moderate scratching and a few dings around the edges of the top. The clip has heavy scratching and plating wear around the white dot. The white dot looks good. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
