Product Description
Type Vintage lever-filling fountain pen and mechanical pencil set.
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year Diamond Point, made in USA - circa 1930s.
Length Pen: 5-5/16" / pencil: 4-13/16".
Filling System The fountain pen is a lever filler. We've replaced the sac, and it's working very well. The pencil extends and retracts 1.1mm leads by twisting the nose cone. There is a tiny eraser underneath the knob at the end of the barrel.
Color Ivory colored with black veins marbling through. There are two narrow gold plated cap bands on the pen. The pencil has matching bands near the end of the barrel, and a gold plated cone. These Diamond Point celluloid patterns are very striking.
Nib MEDIUM 14k gold nib, marked "Warranted 14 Ct 1st Quality OSMI IRIDIUM". The nib may be English. It's got a bit of flexibility. See our writing sample in the photos.
Condition Excellent + condition. The color has mellowed to a light amber color on both pieces, which is still very attractive. Fountain pen: There is light scratching and handwear on the cap and barrel. No cracks or chips. The barrel has some marks from the cap lip. The lever has brassing and plating wear on the tab end, but the rest of the bar looks good. The cap has light scratching. The clip has brassing and plating wear around the top and on the ball end. The cap bands also have plating wear along the edges. Mechanical Pencil: Light to moderate scratching. The clip has brassing over the top edge and on the ball end. The trim bands look good, with just some touches of brassing. The cone has light scratching, and some small dots of pitting. The pencil mechanism is working very well.
