Product Description
Type Ornate dip pen holder/handle with flexible Aiken Lambert nib
Product Name Marked "3" on the holder.
Manufacturer and Year Unknown who made the holder, but the nib was made by Aiken Lambert
Length 5-5/8" (holder only, not counting nib)
Filling System None, this is a dip pen so you dip the nib in ink. There's no ink reservoir and no feed, so you need to use the right ink and re-dip a lot. You can't use regular fountain pen ink. (Our writing sample was done using Winsor & Newton drawing ink, and even it is a little too thin for writing with dip pens.)
Color Spiral ivory colored celluloid, with a gold wire following the spiral design.
Nib FINE nib is marked Aiken Lambert. Very good tipping material, which you don't always see on dip pen nibs, and it's nicely smooth. You are probably going to have to use something close to India ink .... we couldn't get more than a few strokes with fountain pen ink without having to re-dip, and we used Winsor & Newton drawing ink to get the writing sample below.
Condition Gorgeous! No dents or dings or personalization. The gold plating on the holder is quite nice with hardly any wear.
