Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen and mechanical pencil set.
Product Name Esterbrook Pastels, First Generation (the jewels are black)
Manufacturer and Year Esterbrook, USA - 1954-57
Length Pen is 4-3/8", pencil is 4-1/2".
Filling System The pen is a lever filler, which we have restored with a new sac. It's working great. The pencil takes 0.9mm (or "thin") leads, which it extends via the cap-actuated mechanism, just like most modern mechanical pencils (press the cap down to extend). We'll include a small packet of leads.
Color Light green with chrome trim and black end jewels. The set comes in a plastic herringbone patterned pounch.
Nib EXTRA-FINE FIRM 9450 Nib
Condition Excellent condition. This is a sweet demi set, in a light and appealing color, and that is housed in a herringbone plastic pouch. The fountain pen is in excellent condition. The barrel has microscratching. The cap has three tiny cracks on the cap lip that do not extend as far as the cap band, and mainly light scratching with a few small deeper scratches toward the top. The cap band has a bit of plating wear but the nickel finish looks nice. The clip and clip ring have microscratching. The black jewel looks excellent. The mechanical pencil has microscratching on the cap and barrel, one longish scratch to the left of the clip. The cap band has a bit of plating wear as does the clip and clip ring. The black jewel looks good. All imprints are clear.
The Purse/Pastel pens and pencils were made with a more fragile plastic than other Esterbrook pens, and it's common to find cracks in the cap lips. Because of this, we suggest that you do not post this pen, or use extreme caution in doing so.
