Product Description
Type Twist filling fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Unknown, it is probably a Dollar Pen because it doesn't have a blind cap.
Manufacturer and Year Charles H. Ingersoll, Newark, NJ -- Circa 1928.
Length Just over 5-1/8 inches without the thumbtack.
Filling System Twist filler. We've restored it and it's working well. For this filling system, the sac is affixed on the back end to a plug, with a pointed tack inserted into the plug which would turn and squeeze the sac. For a more detailed discussion of the design and the company, please see Richard Binder's reference page.
Color Cardinal Red bakelite with a 1/8" cap band and gold plated trim.
Nib Fine Flexible Ingersoll nib. It is gold and writes well but there is very little tipping material left. See the writing sample for an example of the line variation.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, personalization, or major scratches. There is some plating wear on the edge of the cap band and it also isn't a perfectly cut line. The bakelite is reinforced and the extra pieces may lend a subtle curvature to the barrel. The imprint on the top of the cap is crisp (It reads "Chas. H. Ingersoll Newark M.J.). The pen has been fully restored and it's working very well.
