Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Lady Sheaffer VI -- part of the Skripsert (clipless) line.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer - circa 1959
Length 5-7/16"
Filling System Takes standard Sheaffer cartridges. No converter is included. We tested it with all the Sheaffer converters types, including the rare button converters, and none fit. That's the weird thing about these Lady Sheaffers, some accept converters and some simply don't.
Color The body is periwinkle colored enamel over metal, with a gold basketweave that gives the pen a nice texture, making it easy to grip. The pattern was officially called "Paisley" and the color was periwinkle, per Sheaffer's 1959 Lady Sheaffer brochure.
Nib DOUBLE BROAD nib is a steel Triumph conical style. It's fairly firm and feels very smooth, with nice uniform tipping. In all honesty, we've never seen such a broad nib on this era of Sheaffer, so it must be fairly uncommon. There are a few toolmarks on the top surface of the nib, as you can see in the photo.
Condition Excellent + condition. This is the cleanest Lady Sheaffer VI we've seen. This model is usually chipped on the ends, but in this pen there is one tiny fleck in the enamel on the top of the cap. (The caps are enamel over metal for this model, while the barrels are plastic.) Generally the pen looks great, with a little light wear on the section, no cracks or chips. Quite a striking pen.
