Product Description
Type Beautiful uncommon fountain pen.
Product Name Lady Sheaffer XXXV -- part of the Skripsert (clipless) line.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1958-60.
Length 5-3/8 inches
Filling System Takes standard Sheaffer cartridges. No converter is included. We tested it with four different Sheaffer converters and none fit. That's the catch with these Lady Sheaffers, many do not accept converters. We will include a new cartridge.
Color The body is light colored silver enamel in a moire pattern with an engraved gold diamond pattern. There's a protruding central decorative band with channel set white stones. The section is "ivory"/off-white.
Nib Medium short triumph style gold plated nib is smooth with nice tipping material. Slight "Waverly" upturn on the tip.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks or chips, dings, dents, or personalization. Under magnification, there are a lot of little black marks along the edges of the engraaved pattern, which is very common for these Lady Sheaffers. (In hand the marks are a lot less prominent.) The clutch ring near the end of the section has some brassing. The central decorative band has a lot of dots of pitting; remarkably all of the stones are present! There is a small area of plating wear at the top of the cap, and the barrel end has a larger splotch. The section looks really great, with no crazing or ink staining. The pen has been cleaned and tested, it's working well.
