Product Description
Type vintage eyedropper filling system fountain pen
Product Name Swan.
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co., UK -- 1906 (the hallmarks include a mark for 1906). We are guessing it was made by Swan, as the shape is similar to full eye dropper overlays we see in the Swan reference book. The overlay was made by someone in the UK, though we could not find out what "E.P. & Co" stands for.
Length 5-5/16" long
Filling System Eyedropper filler. Usually we'd expect to see a nib unit with an over feed and a regular under feed, a long feed tail, and a twisted wire which helped inked flow ... this had none of those, because we suspect the nib and feed were changed at some point. We did make a wire and inserted it into the back end of the feed in order to assist with ink flow.
Color Black hard rubber with sterling silver overlay. The main pattern of the pen is a "barleycorn" pattern, alternating with panels in a lengthwise line pattern with large dots at intervals.
Nib FINE 14k nib. It's very smooth and a bit springy, but no real flex.
Condition Excellent condition for this lovely eyedropper. No dents or dings in the silver overlay. No major scratches. The imprints are clear.
