Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen with a very flexible nib
Product Name Monitor Pen
Manufacturer and Year Monitor (a Wahl sub-brand), USA -- Likely 1920s
Length 5-1/2" long, and fairly thick. We consider this an oversized pen.
Filling System The fountain pen is a lever filer. A new sac has been installed and it is working well.
Color Red hard rubber with gold filled trim. The trim consists of a 1/8" band at the top of the cap and a 1/8" band near the lip, and a clip. The red hard rubber is a strong orange color.
Nib Fine flexible 14k warranted nib with great line variation. The tines spread very easily and we feel comfortable calling this full flex, though it does not qualify as a "wet noodle.". Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Superior condition. Beautiful color, the only flaw is some brassing. The edge of the top cap band has some brassing, and the ball end of the clip has brassing. Otherwise the trim is excellent with no other brassing. The barrel and cap is free of bite marks or scratches. The color is fairly consistent all over, with just a small portion of the barrel (where the cap overlaps) that is slightly darker. The cap imprint is clear.
