Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Model 149
Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, Germany -- 1990. The pen has the early plastic feed, brass piston threads, two-section barrel, 18K two-tone nib, Germany imprint, all overlap between 1990-1994 but variations in time frames are possible. Serial numbers were introduced in 1991 and this pen does not have one.
Length 5-7/8"
Filling System Piston filler. It's been cleaned and tested and is working well.
Color Black barrel with gold plated trim.
Nib BROAD STUB 18k Nib. The nib is a very springy two-tone 18K Montblanc 4810 nib. The pen has an early plastic feed. The nib has been cut for line variation. See the writing sample below. Because the line variation is somewhat subtle we're calling it a stub instead of a cursive italic. The heavier the line variation, the closer to a true italic the nib is.
Condition Excellent + condition. The Germany imprint is a bit worn. The cap band imprint is easily read. The pen has handwear and polishing marks but no scratches, chips, or cracks. There's a little plating wear on the edge of the top clip band. The plastic piston seal has slight discoloration and the viewing window is very clear. The trim is thin on the clip and there are a few spots of wear.
