Product Description
Type Cartridge/converter filling fountain pen, working well.
Product Name Parker 45 Harlequin, it seems "harlequin" meant repeating diamond pattern but Parker incorrectly took it to mean any repeating pattern. This was also called the Parker 80.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in England -- 1981 (The date code is a clear UC which indicated 1981. This matches the model's production period of 1979-84.)
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Fountain pen takes Parker cartridges, or you can fill it with bottled ink via the included squeeze converter.
Color Brushed stainless steel with cut out shields. It is called "Grey Shield" because the non-steel part is gray. It has a dimpled tassie which was used in the 1970s.
Nib BROAD ITALIC 14k nib is a nice crisp italic. The collar is labeled, "H," which indicated oblique fine italic. The nib was cut even further and has a slight oblique and writes with much broader lines. Please see the writing sample below. This nib does require a certain angle for writing. All Harlequin nibs came with steel nibs, but this nib has been upgraded with a 14k nib that was made in England.
Condition Superior condition. There's a slight slope in the section that might be a slight amount of warping. Also, the cut out areas are darker on the barrel than the cap. Some of the gray that filled in the cut out areas has been worn away. (The reddish color on the left side of the clip was caused by a reflection.) No cracks, chips, or dents.
