Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker 51. The cap is from the not so special "Special" model but the barrel, filling system and nib are from a regular Parker 51.
Manufacturer and Year Parker USA - the Special was introduced in 1950, and there's no date code on the barrel, so we are guessing it was made after 1952.
Length Full size pen - 5 3/8"
Filling System Aerometric squeeze filling system. Tested and working well.
Color The color is called burgundy, and it is very dark brownish-burgundy colored. It looks darker (almost black) in the photographs than it actually is. Smooth, shiny steel cap. Black cap jewel.
Nib Medium 14K nib. (The Specials originally started with octanium nibs, but towards the end of their production they started appearing with gold nibs.)
Condition Very nice condition with no cracks or dents. The major flaw is plating wear and some large blotches of pitting near the top of the cap (see photos below). This is a shiny, classic pen, in a deep, rich burgundy color. The section has long, light scratch lines from the cap lip. The barrel has some scratches at the top and end. The cap has moderate microscratching throughout. The clip looks great. The black jewel has some scratching all around it. The imprint is clear.
