Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker 51 Vacumatic, Full Size
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in U.S.A. -- 1942 (The date code is a clear 2 with no dots).
Length Full size, 5-7/16"
Filling System Vacumatic (piston/plunger) filling system. We've fully restored it in house with a new diaphragm, and it's working very well.
Color Dove Grey body with "Custom" cap. Custom refers to all of the Parker 51 gold filled caps. This one is 1/8th 14k gold filled with lengthwise parallel lines and no blank areas. The cap has a 1-11/16" long arrow clip and a pearlescent cap jewel.
Nib FINE gold nib is in nice condition, with a nice amount of tipping, and feels smooth.
Condition Very nice condition, excellent except for some patches of brassing on the cap. The barrel looks great and is unstained. There is some wear on the top of the hood around the nib. The blind cap is darker than the barrel and not quite flush with it either. The barrel imprint is very clear. We didn't manage to photograph the bulk of the imprint and the date code at the same time, but the date code is clear too. The cap has several small dents and three large brassed areas. Two are just about at the cap lip and one is to the left of the clip. The clip is brassed too. The pen is fully restored and working well.
