Product Description
Type Restored vintage fountain pen
Product Name Parker 51 Custom Vacumatic ("Custom" refers to the cap design but indicates that it is gold filled and not a particular pattern.)
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1947 (The date code is a clear 7 with one dot).
Length Full size pen, 5-1/2"
Filling System piston/plunger (Vacumatic) filling system. We've restored it with a new diaphragm and it's working well. It has the later vacumatic plastic plunger system which is the correct plunger for the Parker 51 vacumatics.
Color Black body with a gold filled cap.It is 1/10th 16k gold filled and has a grouped lines pattern. The cap has a blue diamond clip and a pearlescent cap jewel.
Nib BROAD gold nib is smooth. It writes smoothly and has lots of tipping material. Though it is not as wide as modern broad nibs, we have no doubt it was originally considered broad. Very uncommon!
Condition Excellent condition. The cap is sharp looking, though there are a few very shallow impressions. There are 2-3 needle like marks at the top of the cap. There is some wear on the clutch band. The pen has normal handwear and polishing marks. The barrel imprint is difficult to read and the "Parker" is almost all worn away. It has been fully restored and is working very well.
