Product Description
Type Restored vintage fountain pen
Product Name Parker 51 Custom Vacumatic ("Custom" refers to the cap design.)
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1948 (The date code is a clear 8 with no dots).
Length Full size pen, 5-3/8"
Filling System Piston/plunger (Vacumatic) filling system. We've restored it with a new diaphragm and it's working well. It has the later plastic plunger system which is the correct plunger for the Parker 51 Vacumatics.
Color Black body with a 1/10 14k gold filled cap. The cap has a lined pattern (groups of 9 lines with a blank area in between each group) and a pearlescent cap jewel.
Nib FINE gold nib is smooth and very symmetrical.
Condition Excellent + condition. There is plating wear on the sides of the clip. The cap has light to moderate scratching, and some tiny dings around the top 1/3 of the cap. The jewel looks great. There are several scratches on the barrel from the cap lip, including one about 3/8" long that runs through the imprint. The clutch ring has visible scuffs, and some of the plating is missing from the middle. The barrel imprint is legible. The pen has been fully restored and is working very well.
