Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker 61 Flighter Deluxe - Mark III, the Flighter Deluxe refers to a brushed steel pen with gold plated trim. The Mark III is the cartridge/converter version. The clutch ring is the band between the section and barrel. (There is some contradictory information out there on the different versions but we are calling the capillary versions the Mark I if they have the thin clutch ring version and the Mark II if they have the thicker clutch ring.)
Manufacturer and Year Parker, England -- 1975-79, the Flighter Deluxe came out in 1970 and the plastic cap jewel was discontinued in 1975. The absence of a date code indicates that it was made before 1980.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System This fountain pen does not have the capillary filling system this model is known for. This is the later version that uses Parker-style cartridges and converters. A Parker squeeze converter is installed.
Color Satin finished lustraloy or brushed steel cap and barrel with gold plated trim. The section is black. The cap and barrel have dome-shaped metal jewels.
Nib FINE gold nib is smooth with nice round tipping.
Condition Excellent condition. The lustraloy finish is in good condition with no real shiny spots. There is some brassing on the high spots of the clip. The cap jewel and tassie have brassing. The section has marks from capping, and the inlaid arrow has had its gold plating polished away. The area around the inlaid arrow also has polishing marks. The barrel looks great. The end jewel has brassing and patina. No cracks, chips, dents, or major scratches. It's working well.
