Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Vacumatic Debutante
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in Canada -- 1940s, based off of the filling system because we could not make out the date code.
Length 4-5/8" Debutante size
Filling System Vacumatic filling system, restored here at Peyton Street Pens. This is the aluminum plunger "speedline" version.
Color Windowed or "slotted" Black with gold plated trim. Windowed Black has lengthwise black and transparent pieces as opposed to the alternating bands pattern of the Laminated Black. It has an Ornamental cap band. It's a more elaborate version of the more common chevron pattern. This seems to be the patterning used for the blue diamond clip debutantes. This pen does not have a diamond clip, but that kind of inconsistency is common on the Canadian variants of these pens. It has a black cap jewel.
Nib SEMI-FLEXIBLE FINE 14k Canadian Vacumatic nib. It has good tipping material and the tines spread well for line variation. Please see the writing sample below. It has a W on the feed which indicates that the feed is non-standard.
Condition Excellent condition. The black pieces in the body of the pen have worn down noticeably with the side effect of a particularly transparent barrel. There is a bit of barrel warping from capping and posting the pen. It has been personalized, "M. A. MacKENZIE." There are a few shallow bite marks on the blind cap and a scratch in line with the clip on the cap. The handwear isn't too bad and the trim has held up well. The barrel imprint is a bit difficult to read but it clearly states that it is made in Canada. It's fully restored and working well.
