Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker Vacumatic Sub Debutante, this is a lower end vacumatic in the Shadow Wave pattern with a Speedline filling system.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, USA -- 1938 (The date code on the barrel is a clear 8 with no dots.)
Length 4-11/16"
Filling System Vacumatic filler in excellent working condition. The filling system has been restored by us with a new diaphragm, and it has been tested. This is the aluminum speedline version.
Color "Burgundy Pearl Shadow Wave" is alternating lengthwise stripes of semi-transparent amber and a gradient of reds. It has a black blind cap, and black end jewels. Gold plated trim with a short arrow clip and a 1/8" chevron cap band. This is probably the most hard to find color in the Shadow Wave pens.
Nib SEMIFLEXIBLE MEDIUM 14k nib is smooth. It has good tipping material and is quite springy. You can get enough line variation to qualify as legitimately flexible. See the writing sample below. The feed has a W on it for wide channel and facillitates wet writing.
Condition Excellent + condition. No cracks. The plating looks really good with well defined detailing and no real wear. The blind cap and the cap have bite marks and there are posting and capping marks. The barrel clarity is strong and the imprint is legible.
