Product Description
Type Vintage piston-filling fountain pen
Product Name 140
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan - Germany, circa 1954. (In 1954 they started putting the model number on the cap band, and we can make out part of the 1 and 0, but not the middle digit of the model number. This does not have the Günther Wagner imprint on the barrel, which Pelikan stopped imprinting after 1954.)
Length 4-7/8"
Filling System Piston filling system. We have tested it and it's working well.
Color Green striped transparent barrel, black cap and end pieces. Gold plated trim.
Nib Fine 14k nib. We've got a writing sample in the photos showing the line width going from fine to double-broad, and it doesn't take a whole lot of pressure to achieve that.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a classically designed pen in a great color with excellent barrel transparency. The barrel has light scratching, and some horizontal scratches from the cap lip. The cap has light scratching. The "bird" on the top of the cap looks great. The cap band has plating wear, and the imprint is either worn down or wasn't imprinted very deeply (it's not easy to read what it says). The clip has some plating wear along the sides, and the front face has brassing on the high spots and around the lower edge.
