Product Description
Type Modern fountain pen
Product Name P3110 Ductus
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan, Germany -- 2007 - 2010. This pen was produced 2007-14, and the painted cap logo (rather than plated) dates it to the earlier half of this period.
Length 5-9/16 inches
Filling System Pelikan calls this a cartridge/converter filler, but there's a caveat. The blind cap reveals a tray which will hold one long international cartridge or two short ones. You can also use an international style converter, but you'll have to fill the converter directly from the bottle, as the piston knob will be unaccessible when it is seated in the tray. An unused cartridge is present in the tray - simply remove the cartridge and flip it 180 degrees, allowing the section nipple to pierce it.
Color Black lacquer over brass, with gold pinstripe detailing on the cap and blind cap (reverse of Pelikan's usual coloring scheme, where the cap and blind cap are usually black/solid, and the barrel is "fancy"). A real classic with a twist.
Nib EXTRA-FINE 18k two-toned nib. This is a sort of "shovel" shaped nib, a departure from Pelikan's familiar Souveran style.
Condition Near mint condition, in box. Our inspection did not show any evidence that that pen had been inked. Under magnification, we see light signs of usage on the barrel, and some polishing marks on the trim (especially the clip and cap finial). Overall though, it's grgeous looking with very little wear. No cracks, scratches or plating wear. In Pelikan box with paperwork, with original hangtag attached to clip.
