Product Description
Type Collectible Japanese pen from the 1970s. We see someone on eBay with this exact pen listed for $18,000 and another listing with a pair of these pens listed for $5,000. Now, those pens are in much better condition than ours, but perhaps you need this pen as a placeholder in your collection until you scrape up a few thousand for a perfect one.
Product Name Unknown for certain, though we see it called by the Sakura "Cherry Blossom" design.
Manufacturer and Year Pilot, Japan, 1970s
Length 5-1/8"
Filling System Converter or cartridge filler. We will ship it with a Pilot "cleaning converter" but we notice that it doesn't fit tightly, so you might want to try your own converter or cartridges.
Color Dark brownish black with a gold cherry blossom design. The trim is gold plated.
Nib The 18k nib is marked fine. The nib is in really nice condition, with good tipping material.
Condition Though there are no dents or dings or cracks or serious scratches, this pen's lacquer work shows a lot of hand wear. In some locations, the gold speckles of the design have worn off entirely, leaving just the black lacquer behind. There's a small amount of plating wear on the clip. On the edge of the end of barrel, the finish is completely worn off and you see the brass (?) underneath. Please see the photos.
