Product Description
Type Vintage three-piece maple wood writing set (fountain pen, ballpoint, and mechanical pencil).
Product Name Custom.
Manufacturer and Year Pilot (Namiki), Japan -- 1972. Date code on nib is H772.
Length The fountain pen and ballpoint are 5-1/4" long. The mechanical pencil is just a bit shorter, at 5-3/16".
Filling System It takes Pilot cartridges and converters. An older Pilot CON-20 aerometric converter is installed. The ballpoint pen extends and retracts the tip by pressing the top half, and the refill is a Pilot "BRFN" refill. The pencil takes 5mm leads, which extend by clicking the upper portion.
Color "Kaede" or resin-impregnated maple wood. All three pieces have gold plated trim and the clips have a black stripe on the face. The fountain pen has a black section.
Nib Medium 18k nib. It is a smooth writer with a large breather hole.
Condition Excellent + condition in box. The fountain pen has low handwear. There are a lot of long thin scratches on the section. The clip has some small scratches on the sides, but no plating wear or brassing. The ballpoint looks great, with just some very faint scratching on the clip. The cone looks good. The mechanical pencil looks fantastic. The really stand-out feature of all three pieces is the wood, which is smooth with no cracks, or large dents in the surface. All three pieces are really attractive and eye-catching.
