Manufacturer and Year Platinum, Japan -- This is the original 1960s version of the pen, which is still being made. (The newer version has a 14k nib, whereas this has an 18k nib. Additionally, this older version has black sheepskin "jewels" on both ends.)

Filling System Platinum cartridge or converter fill. A piston Platinum converter is installed. It doesn't look anything like the current converters produced by Platinum..
Color Simply called, "Black," this pen is black stained sheepskin over recycled aluminum. It has gold colored trim and the barrel and clip are reminiscent of 70s era Japanese pens. It has a plastic section
Nib Medium 18k nib. The Japanese character on the pen is "中" which means middle or medium. Japanese fines and mediums run finer than the Western nibs. This was advertised as a soft nib though it doesn't seem overly springy.
Condition Superior, lovely condition. This is a beautiful pen with nice trim and is very shiny. The pattern is very even and the finish seems perfect. There are only spots of wear on the area around the cap band.
